The Battle Creek Self-Employment Program Highlights a New Business

Del McClenney

Mary Houghton of Houghton Multi Media has started a wonderful new business. Picture this: You are preparing for your child's graduation party. The process is so simple because you hired Houghton Multi Media to preserve your child's history. You have an awesome oral history video to run continuously throughout the party. There are beautiful photo albums on display constructed at a Houghton Multi Media Workshop. Your guests are able to share the beauty of a young life as this important mile stone is celebrated.

Let's say you are just becoming acquainted with the whole idea of preserving the family history, all is not lost. Mary Houghton has the experience and the expertise to assist you. She will help you preserve your family history (family reunions, weddings all the occasions important to you). Make Houghton Multi Media a part of the celebrations of your life. You may contact Mary Houghton at 517.857.3686 or mary.houghton@gmail.com.

The Battle Creek Self-Employment Program still needs mentors. We need business people to support new business owners like Mary Houghton. Can you volunteer 2-4 hours per month?
The program mentors are required to:

  • Set an agenda, for each meeting with their protégé
  • Make sure goals are attainable
  • Assist protégé in obtaining additional resources
  • Increase protégés opportunity to interact with other business, social and cultural groups, there by developing business skills

Make this a project you support. Please contact Del McClenney at 269.962.8996 or dmcclenney@battlecreek.org. Mary Houghton and her classmates are plugged in and waiting for you to share your expertise. This is an excellent project for retired business persons. Allow someone else to benefit from your years of experience.
