This nationally recognized model for community crime fighting was
established by the Battle Creek Area Chamber of Commerce and has
been duplicated across the nation. The premise is simple. Only through
citizen participation can law enforcement solve crimes. Silent Observer
offers citizens the opportunity to provide police with vital information
- yet remain anonymous. Silent Observers can receive rewards of
up to $5,000 for providing information leading to the arrest of
individuals, who are later bound over for trial.
The
Foundation's Fugitive of the Month
Program, run collaboratively with the Michigan State Police
5th District Fugitive Team, features a "Wanted Fugitive" whose capture
requires public assistance. The Battle
Creek Enquirer cosponsors the program by matching Committee's
rewards. The maximum reward level is $1,000.00 dollars. To date,
this program has featured 115
fugitives and 110 have been captured.
The
Board of Directors of the Battle Creek Area Chamber Foundation would
like to thank the community for ongoing support of these important
programs. For questions regarding the Chamber Foundation and how
you can contribute please contact
